Alternatives to Patreon and PayPal? Anyone have something setup already?
Posted by: bjcheung77 - 06-13-2025, 10:33 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (2)

Anyone here use similar options to Buy Me a Coffee, Patreon?  I want to use something similar to these two.  And for purchase payments, I only use PayPal for now, but I know there are alternatives, such as the ones like Amazon, Apple, Google, Square, Stripe... What do you use for quick transfers, such as for donations, payments, etc?

For now, I like PayPal as I don't have to keep entering my MasterCard or Visa details for purchases, it's safer in one spot than purchasing from each and every online store I visit.  That's just me, I set things up differently.  Are there better ways to go around things, yes, but I haven't found an easier option yet, maybe another alternative to Paypal...

Been thinking of creating audio/info books on Amazon and self publishing...
Just fishing for options right now, haven't set anything in stone, just yet...

New Grad Cert in Special Education
Posted by: natshar - 06-13-2025, 07:19 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (2)

Apparently UMPI has two graduate programs now the MAOL and the second one is a grad cert: https://www.umpi.edu/yourpace/academic_p...grad-cert/

Anyone know anything about this?? I don't see what courses are required or anything? How long has this been around?

Also unreleated but that is the difference in requirments between a BA Accounting and BBA Accounting?

How do I calculate GPAs at UMPI?
Posted by: huiwh1998 - 06-13-2025, 10:28 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (10)

Specifically, if a student receives grades such as 3.8/4 (Exceeds Proficiency), 3.9/4 (Exceeds Proficiency), and 4/4 (Exceeds Proficiency), would these grades be averaged to a 3.9? Or, based on the policy, would the GPA still be a 4.0, assuming grades of 3.8 and above result in an A/A+?

Looking to obtain a BCBA Masters
Posted by: Hiltswordstone - 06-12-2025, 10:51 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (4)

I obtained an Associate Degree from Pierpont via one letter grade from Clackamas, and the rest of the credits being Sophia Ace Credits. I plan on earning the Psych Degree from UMPI. I'll be transferring as many credits as I can from Sophia.org and Study.com. Do you have any recommendations for the most affordable and reputable BCBA Master’s Programs that will accept my Undergraduate Degree/Sophia & Study.com credits, after I finish the Psych BA? I'm looking for the most affordable option, though reputable would be nice as well. I've been super worried about people willing to accept me into a program because I earned quite a few credits via Sophia, I've been informed before it won't matter via others on the forum, I still worry/ have heard some programs wont take the Sophia credits..

One other quick question, if anyone doesn’t mind: My account was hacked around the time I graduated from Pierpont. Although I did graduate, I no longer have access to my student ID or login information and don’t remember my credentials. If I want to transcript from Pierpont for credits at UMPI, will I have any issues, how would I go about obtaining the transcripts? I’m assuming UMPI has my DL/ID on records, but I’m unsure how to obtain that information or proceed.

I appreciate any suggestion or help you can provide, thanks.

42 Ecole - a free, global coding "degree"
Posted by: Robson - 06-12-2025, 09:01 PM - Forum: Free Courses and Certificates and Good Deals - No Replies

https://www.42network.org/

42 Ecole is a relatively new school that provides tuition-free coding education that can lead to a bachelors or masters-level qualification.

They have campuses around the world. It has no teachers or classes but relies upon "peer learning" and the completion of regular projects.

Entrance is competitive, but because there's no tuition or entrance fees, you can drop out at any time. The program is designed to take three years to complete full time.

Warm Reminders for Newcomers Planning to Study on Study.com
Posted by: Epiphany.y - 06-12-2025, 07:05 PM - Forum: Saylor.org, Straighterline, Study.com, Sophia.Org, Coursera Discussion - No Replies

1. If you previously registered for a Study.com account but never upgraded to a membership, or if you once subscribed and now want to return to study, it's best to register a new account with a different email. Otherwise, you'll still be limited to taking only 2 exams per month.

2. Once you complete a course, the system will automatically transfer the credits to the target university you specified during registration. In this case, you won't be eligible for a refund.

3. If you encounter issues and need to contact the Support Team, please be mentally prepared to be patient. It may take a long time to receive a response—even a week or half a month.

Don't ask me why I know so much. Right now, I'm hiding in the corner crying alone.

  my TESU prep
Posted by: pluggingalong - 06-12-2025, 06:08 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (8)

It looks like I will be going to TESU for a Liberal Studies degree. There are 2 classes I *must* take at TESU, and 6 more I will take at StC.

At StC, the first 2 will be English 205 and Sociology 101 (or Geography). The other 4 classes I take at StC need to be Upper Level Liberal Studies classes, and I will be communicating with TESU to determine which ones they will be. My first step is to take the first 2 classes at StC, and then the next 4. The last step is to take the Information Literacy course at TESU, do the Capstone, pay the short-timers fee, and graduate. I have no idea how long this will all take. My guess is 6-9 months.

  General Education Courses on Sophia
Posted by: not4not - 06-12-2025, 02:59 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi there,

I am transferring into TESU from another University, they gave me around 80 credits, but I have a lot of General Education courses to complete.

I am doing the BACS program, and was just wondering, if credits from Sophia transfer in? Specifically these courses:

Written Communication:
ENC-1020: English Composition II - Sophia

Oral Communication:
COM-2090: Public Speaking - Sophia

Diversity Intercultural Literacy:
SOC-1010: Intro to Sociology - Study

Ethical Leadership:
ETH-2200: Ethical Leadership - Sophia

Civic Engagement and Awareness:
POS-1100: US Government - Sophia

Social Sciences:
SOC-2100: Lifespan Development - Sophia

History:
HIS-1140: US History I - Sophia

Social Sciences, History and/or Humanities 6SH Featured Course(s):
Art History - Sophia
Visual Communications - Sophia

I picked these courses based on the Wiki, but I don't know how updated that is, so I just want to make sure they still accept these.

Thank you!
