New UMF YourPace CBE Certificate in Game Studies
Posted by: Jonathan Whatley - 08-04-2026, 04:22 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - No Replies

Upcoming from the University of Maine at Farmington via their new 2026-27 undergraduate catalog, the UMF will offer an undergraduate Certificate in Game Studies via the YourPace competency-based education modality.

“Whether you are a business student honing your skills in negotiation and strategic decision-making, an aspiring educator interested in game-based learning, or a student of social behavior looking to understand the mechanics of human systems, this certificate bridges the gap between formal logic and human experience. By developing a ‘game-minded’ approach, you will gain a versatile, high-level skill set for analyzing and navigating complex human interactions in any professional field,” states the catalog.

The 12-credit certificate consists of four courses:

  • PSY 107 Psychology of Video Games
  • MAT 191 Game Theory
  • PSY 207 Game Studies: A Psychosocial Approach
  • Plus an elective from a list published each year

TESU courses without proctored exams / papers?
Posted by: boblax - 08-04-2026, 03:52 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (4)

I'm currently in the process of finishing my BACS, I have a few credits left. I'm going to cap the 90 ACE credits limit, and I have transferred a couple of credits from a EU university. As a result, I have 6 remaining credits that needs to be RA.

This is the current plan. The bottom part is a BSBA that I might or might not complete at some point. The remaining COS-2130, COS-3300 and CIS-3010 I will do on study.com, bringing the total to 90. The purples classes are the ones that are RA (TECEP, foreign credits or normal TESU classes).
https://ibb.co/xKKF57gh

I'm planning on doing a 15 credits term at TESU with: SOS-1100, PHI-1300, CIS-1070, + 2 other classes. Then a final term with the capstone.
These 2 classes are the ones I'm looking for. Ideally, they should have no proctored exams, or no papers (would prefer no exam unless there are really a lot of papers to do). If there are exams, then there shouldn't be a lot of dates to memorize. Fitting into knowledge of other cultures for the BSBA would be appreciated but it's not necessary.

Any suggestion?

  IBM Generative AI Engineering
Posted by: animuscerebri - 08-03-2026, 09:34 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - No Replies

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to let you know what this certificate ( https://www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/ibm-generative-ai-engineering ) transfers to at TESU:

COS-4510, DSI-3040, ETH-2300, COS-2050, DSI-3999

- for BACS COS-4510 Artificial Intelligence is UL
- COS-2050 is Python Programming (LL), relatively good if you don't wanna do Sophia or Study.com; for me, it was irrelevant, I had already done Python at a Finnish school.
- ETH-2300 is an Ethics class, quite interesting

and the rest are courses for Data Science and Analytics

In total, this certificate yields 15 credits

I think quite interesting for some out there.

I was on the sister board and noticed someone mentioned there is a new NACES member, just wondering if anyone has used their services yet?

I checked their website and fees, seems reasonable for course by course at $145.  If you need the GPA, it's an extra $50.  Anyone want to be the guinea pig?

NEW applicants
General - $90
Course by Course - $145
Course by Course with GPA - $195
CPA Examination - $190
CPA Licensure - $190

Changing major from BACS to BS ESET
Posted by: JanieM - 08-01-2026, 10:03 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (2)

Hi there, I'm thinking of changing my degree from a bachelor's of arts in computer science to a bachelor's of science in engineering systems & electronics technology. I feel that it would fit better for me, as it sounds more backend-focused, and it may allow for a wider range of career opportunities suiting me. What should I know about this degree? What prerequisite courses should I take?

The American Dream is becoming a distant memory.
Posted by: NotJoeBiden - 08-01-2026, 03:56 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (7)

Maybe, and hear me out, the system is broken. The pipeline for the American Dream is failing. The brightest, hardest working Americans are failing to make rent, while the Pedo class is getting richer and richer.
