TESU - Keeping Active Student status
Posted by: legenwait4itdary - 05-22-2025, 07:45 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (10)

Hello guys,

I have been busy recently and while I have completed quite a few courses and started Linear Algebra with Coopersmith a couple of month ago (and kind of stopped working on it but started again just recently) I completely forgot that I have not enrolled for a course with TESU so, technically, I am not a student or not an active student(?) Last year, when I first enrolled I did not have to sign up for the Medical Terminology (?) because I was offered some courses for free which allowed me to be an active student and have unlimited transcript evaluations (which I used quite a bit as I took a few courses with Study.com).

Now, I think I should have enrolled for another course to keep my status active a couple of month ago but I did not. Can I still do it? Am I still a student or do I have to re-apply again? I hope the former is the case and if it is I will take the Medcial Terminology course (as soon as I can log into my account as I have been having massive issues lately).

Thank you in advance for your help!

Oakford Academy - International Language School

Just wondering if anyone has taken classes from this institution before?  They've got a few languages and I am interested in learning more about their programs if anyone has taken classes previously.  They're in the European Union I believe, so their target market is still people in Europe, I think they're expanding globally as they're adding languages and also partnerships.

With ENEB partnership, it's just $50 Euro/12 months (without ENEB, it's $450 Euro a year). It feels like a good deal if you purchase the ENEB and Oakford together, 12 month subscription, it's like having ENEB for free and paying for Oakford!  I want to compare this with other cheapies or freebies such as Berlitz, Duolingo, Rosetta Stone, etc.  Anyone take the ENEB deal?

  Opinions on Upgrad.com Please
Posted by: SophiaPrincess - 05-21-2025, 11:42 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (17)

Does anyone have any experience with Upgrad.com?  They appear to be a marketing agent primarily promoting heavily discounted foreign graduate degrees to Indian students. I believe the company is based in India but they have university partners in a number of countries including the USA.  Their sloppy and aggressive sales practices created the impression it was a scam but after further digging, I believe they may be legit.  Upgrad claims a huge number of students.

I have read conflicting information. Most sites, including their own, imply they are marketing for various universities. Purported students at a couple of sites claim Upgrad provides their professors. Upgrad's site mentions supporting students but not teaching them. This gave rise to the concern that Upgrad might provide teachers for their students in place of the professors at the university partners, with the university partners only issuing the degrees

Basically, I'm just trying to determine if I pay Upgrad the heavily discounted tuition rate to obtain an MBA or DBA/PhD will their university partner receive the money, allow me to matriculate, allow me to take classes in the normal manner,  and eventually graduate from the university or would I be taught by Upgrad employees?   Thank you in advance for your advice.

How difficult is CIS-3110 Database Management
Posted by: amaryllis08 - 05-20-2025, 11:59 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (6)

I'm doing a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies at TESU and I'm looking at taking Database Management (CIS-3110). It doesn't list any prerequisites, but it is an upper-level course. I haven't taken any programming or college algebra courses. I took algebra in high school and was good at it, but I don't remember much of it as that was several decades ago, ha. I haven't done MAT-1050 Applied Liberal Arts Math yet either. I did create six FileMaker Pro databases at a job. FileMaker Pro is a low-code database application. I did scripting and worked with relational databases, so I'm a little familiar with database development. How easy or hard is this class for someone like me? Is this something I would be able to do or is it going to be way over my head? If you've done the class, how was it for you?

The Database Management course uses OpenOffice Database for the software. This is the course description:

This course provides students with fundamental concepts of databases and database management systems (DBMS). It offers terminology, conceptual approaches, and practical approaches when designing and implementing different database types. Students will learn design considerations and solutions with a DBMS, using various industry standards and models available. Analytical and problem-solving skills will be strengthened. The material also includes common tools and techniques utilized to optimize performance and secure the database and related resources. Other topics covered include: entity relationship diagrams (ERD); Structured Query Language (SQL); information and decision making; and data normalization.

  Course fee?
Posted by: acamp - 05-20-2025, 09:42 PM - Forum: UoPeople - University of the People Discussion - Replies (14)

Hi all,
For those who have taken UoPeople graduate courses before, can you explain what the $350 assessment fee per course entails? Also, what is a typical course breakdown in regards to quizzes, tests, papers, etc?

Thanks all.

  Why "Of the People"?

Hello everyone,
There's one thing I don't understand about this online school. Why is it called "of the people"?  Huh
It doesn't seem to belong to the people, if you ask me.

Missing a TECEP counts as an exam attempt?
Posted by: FungiTao - 05-20-2025, 09:34 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi all,

As most are aware, there is a limit to the amount of times you can take a TECEP exam.

However, not taking the exam (that you've registered for) apparently counts as an exam attempt?

Is this true?

  SLP or Physical Therapy
Posted by: Coachr21 - 05-19-2025, 06:33 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (6)

Does anyone know of any graduate programs that are cheap and either flexible with class times if in person, in NJ or are online (could be synchronous or asynchronous, as long as meets are after 3pm) for Speech Language Pathology or Physical Therapy, my wife is interested in getting into one of those fields and has taken most of the prequiste requirements that we have generally seen for places like Kean, Rutgers and other local schools, it’s just the cost is so high, around 70K plus for either degree in total. If anyone knows of other options I really appreciate the help.

  TESU Change Management
Posted by: vetvso - 05-19-2025, 01:35 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (3)

In the past, TESU told me that the Change Management class must be taken with them. However, I now see alternatives, and I was curious if anyone has been able to get TESU to accept them within a degree plan requiring Change Management.

I currently see these two classes via NCCRS:

Corporate College Services, Inc.
Change Management (MGMT 411)

Coopersmith Career Consulting
Change Management (BUS-554)
