Your Location: New York
Your Age: 30s
What kind of degree do you want?: Second Bachelor’s degree (any regionally accredited US institution). Primary goal is GPA reset for graduate school (minimum 2.70). Secondary preference for a science-sounding concentration if possible that shows up on a degree.
Budget: As low as possible; willing to pay more if it saves substantial time/effort.
Timeline: As fast as possible (9months Max).
Dedicated time to study: ~10–20 hrs/week realistic, more during breaks.
Commitments: Heavy concurrent science coursework + 2 small kids.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: None.

Context / Question
I am currently enrolled at Charter Oak State College (paid $50 application fee + $150 deposit). Their audit applies ~110 credits with a new GPA of ~3.5 so far, but the registrar is requiring completion of multiple remaining General Education categories with new coursework (e.g., WC2, Oral Communication, Digital Literacy, DEI, Innovative Thinking, plus Cornerstone + Capstone).
Given my existing BA, large number of earned credits, and goal (fast, inexpensive GPA-reset bachelor’s), I’m questioning whether COSC is still the best option or whether UMPI YourPace, TESU, or Excelsior would be faster/cleaner.
Main questions:
- With this credit profile, which school is likely the fastest and least bureaucratic path to a second RA bachelor’s?
- If UMPI: is completing ~30 credits in 1–2 sessions realistic here?
- Is it reasonable to walk away from COSC despite the sunk $200, given the added GE requirements?
Appreciate any guidance — thank you in advance.

| Cheapies & Freebies - Recommendation |

Member Wrote:Hi bjcheung77,
I hope you are doing well.
I am writing to thank you for your previous advice. I followed your recommendation and successfully enrolled in the "Program". I really think it was exactly what I needed.
Now that I have started that, I wanted to ask for your expertise on "side" credentials:
What are your personal "hidden gem" courses or certificates (free or cheap) that you think are worth getting?
I've seen the FEMA courses, but I am looking for other under-the-radar options that look official or governmental on a resume.
Thanks again for your help.
Best regards,
I'd recommend skipping FEMA, go for ACE/NCCRS credits or foreign equivalents, such as ENEB. You need to focus on one or two subjects, example, Business & IT related certs and experience.
For undergrad/grad: I'd suggest doing the Coursera, EdX, cheapies such as the ENEB for business related subjects. Here's the link to the cheapies/freebies, and here's the one for Coursera.

Coursera Link: Coursera - Degree Forum Wiki
PS: In addition to the info above, you need to decide on a focus, not just because it's cheap or free, but because it would help enhance your resume or professional portfolio. I usually recommend the trifecta of certs, degree, experience. You need to tweak it to your preference with another trifecta of cost, ease, speed to finish - in order to do so, mix/match them to your liking, example: more certs and degrees for those with less experience vs less certs and degrees for those more experience in the field or subject areas.

So, I signed up for their personal discount offer yesterday and promptly received a 40% off email below.
Hi learner,
You can use your offer right away to get 40% off your Udacity subscription. Your unique code is valid until January 13, 2026, so take advantage of these savings while you can.
I checked my email again, and today was given a different discount. A 50% off email, not as great as Black Friday/Cyber Monday's 55% off. I was curious if anyone was able to stack this discount with the initial discount showing on their webpage of 15%. If you stack them together, it's 65% off (I haven't tried stacking them).
Hi there,
We noticed your interest in our course. Complete your subscription now to gain access to that, the master's program and our entire course catalog.
Use code "bjcheung77's unique code" at checkout for 50% off your monthly subscription purchase. Discounts do not apply to degree program enrollment fees.
Anyways, if someone can get the full 65% off plus the 33% previously evaluated classes for equivalency or transfer, you can probably finish the degree for $2K USD instead of the advertised $5K USD due to 1/3 of the classes are completed.

Hi. I hold the MBA but now am a business teacher looking for a cheap, short DBA or EdD either NA or RA. Any recommendations? I’m willing to do international ones with partnerships as well. Accreditation (national is fine) and affordability is a must. Thanks!

SELF IMPOSED MINIMIZE CONSIDERED
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Yesterday's "Administrative measures" punishment imposed on Sonenator Mark Kelly gave me a little flashback and a smile.
My honest thought is that the sly " Administrative measures" punishment was tadry.
The right way would have been to refer the matter to Court Martial.
I could not help but to remember this two decades old argument
Quote:I hate to burst Charles' bubble (and his nonsensical attack on me), but I am most certainly NOT subject to the UCMJ. Even active reservists are not subject to the UCMJ while they're between either training days or active duty sessions. As a retired reservist, I am under no one's command, including that idiot Bush. Were he to recall me to active duty, however, I would certainly cease public commentary about his inanities. But that isn't going to happen.

Well: Yes he was, and still is.
So is Senator Kelly
