Does anybody know if the SDC physics courses I and II are algebra- or calculus-based?

Advise needed on what's feasible on a tight timeline
Posted by: victor_pv - 05-09-2025, 11:35 AM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (5)

Long story short, I just got laid off from my current job as Lead Systems Admins. by no fault of my own (company decided to lay off x% of the workforce, and took out mostly remote workers). I never completed a degree, thought I started twice. once in Spain and once in the US, and I am wondering what's the fastest and cheapest way to get a degree, whether Bachelor or Associate, to add to my resume to try to move to a manager position.

Longer story:
I'm originally from Spain and started an engineer degree there over 20 years ago, didn't like it and quit after 1 year, and have been working in IT my whole life. I moved to the use 17 years ago, and decided to enroll in a Community college to try for finish a degree. Got into a network security AAS and completed 18 more credits before life got in the way. They also transferred in some credits from my Spanish college. I have a bunch of classes left to complete there that were impossible with my schedule. Very few are online, and even those require meeting at least once in the week during work hours. Now I may have a better chance being unemployed, but I wonder if there is a faster. I also want to find another job as soon as possible, and that would likely get in the way of attending school on week days during work hours.
I considered WGU a while back, and a few months ago I decided to start taking Sophia classes to try to get into the Cybersecurity or a Business Management degree. I got admitted to either at WGU.
At Sophia, I have completed 18 credits, could possibly complete a few more really fast if necessary, and also completed the Google IT support course in coursera (piece of cake due to experience).

From reading all I could find, seems like the BOG degree from Pierpont would have been a golden ticket a few months ago, but I didn't know about it until yesterday.
I have read all posts I could find related to this subject and seems like perhaps UMPI is my best option, but I am not clear what they take in for transfer. I have submitted the application to Pierpont anyway since i saw the conflicting info about 12 credits having to be from them or any RA/NA school (have 24 from my RA community college). Perhaps anyone knows if they make any exceptions or are changing the rules, or another school somewhere offers a similar program.

Can someone tell me if there is any way to obtain an Associate Degree fast and easy with my existing education, no more than a couple of months time? if so, where?

If I can't complete a degree fast, I'd rather not spend any time on it now, and instead focus on getting a new job and perhaps some more IT certifications.

Wealth of Information in the Wikis

Just a friendly reminder, there is a HUGE amount of useful information in the Wikis. I knew there were a few wikis but had no idea there are so many. Some could use updating.

I had nothing to do with the creation or updating of the Wikis. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the learned ladies and gentlemen who donated their time and expertise for the benefit of the community.

  TESU Flat Rate Masters - $18k (MBA - $24k)
Posted by: Captainrekt000 - 05-09-2025, 10:50 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (3)

I was browsing around the TESU website and I noticed that a new graduate flat rate pricing tier FOR NEW STUDENTS was introduced on 3/25/25, starting this May 2025 semester.

https://www.tesu.edu/about/newsroom/2025...ograms.php

All masters degrees at TESU (excluding the MBA and Master's in Psych Mental Health NP) are going to cost $18,000 flat rate (downside is that it appears you'd have to pay for the tuition all at once or over 9 months)

https://www.tesu.edu/tuition-financial-a...t-rate.php

For example, the MA Liberal Studies  degree would cost $18000 for all 36 credits or $500 per credit.

https://www.tesu.edu/tuition-financial-a...t-rate.php

The MBA looks like its also going flat rate at $24k at 39 credits or $616 per credit

Still relatively expensive compared to options you can find using the GetEducated tool

But I thought it was a step in the right direction to make getting online graduate degrees easier for most people, similar to when TESU went flat rate (9-15 credits) for its undergrad programs (currently $4429 for OOS)

  Is Augment MBA a scam?
Posted by: greg4545 - 05-07-2025, 02:12 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (10)

If you look at https://augment.org/ they make it look like you are getting a real MBA from a real business school. But after searching online, I see they say they are not accredited and that they offer an MBA Certificate, so apparently they don't offer actual master's degrees. They are backed by celebrity entrepreneurs. Is this legal?

  Undergrad certs and some college
Posted by: sakasaba - 05-07-2025, 07:59 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (1)

I'm working on my undergrad cert in marketing at UoPeople and plan on continuing my education after, but while I'm working on both those goals I was wondering if getting this cert counts as checking the box for "some college" to employers in entry level administrative/clerk type jobs.

  TESU Computer Science

So I was under the impression if you're working on a TESU Bachelor's Degree, you do have to do 30 RA Credits at the school but I talked to TESU today and it seems that's not the case? You just need to make sure 24 credits are different than your other degree. So someone who's never had a TESU Degree can still transfer in like 111 credits, do 9 at the school, and graduate with the Residency Waiver Fee, even though it's their 2nd Bachelor's?

Thanks.

Hello,
Does anyone have a complete degree program of the BS in Business Management that shows what courses are OA vs PA's?

Thank you
