RFK Jr Falsely Tells Senate "AI Nurse" Is "As Good As Any Doctor"
Posted by: Jonathan Whatley - 01-30-2025, 06:31 AM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (1)

Arundhati Parmar at MedCity News Wrote:[At his Senate confirmation hearing, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. stated] that President Trump has urged him to “end the hemorrhage of rural hospitals” by leveraging innovations like AI and telemedicine. Stating that would have been perfect. But then he went a step further by delving deeper into such “innovations,” as he called them.

“Cleveland Clinic has developed an AI nurse that you cannot distinguish from a human being that has diagnostics [capability] as good as any doctor,” he said, according to a livestream of the hearing. “We can provide concierge care to every American in this country even [in] those remote parts of Wyoming, Montana and Alaska, etc.”

There is only one problem.

No such AI nurse exists in the Cleveland Clinic. Here’s an emailed statement from a spokeswoman:

“We believe that the thoughtful and safe use of AI has the potential to enhance medical care for patients. We are utilizing the technology in many areas of our health system, and while we appreciate being mentioned as an innovator, we have not developed an AI nurse as part of our efforts,” wrote Andrea Pacetti, director of media and public relations.

So what could Kennedy have meant?

It’s entirely possible that Kennedy saw Hippocratic’s AI agent in action in a phone conversation with a patient […] Hippocratic AI’s CEO, Munjal Shah, has spoken eloquently (albeit fantastically) about a world where AI nurses could dramatically alter the landscape of chronic disease management.

But Shah was very clear that he is not going down the path of AI doing diagnostics.

“In fact, we explicitly are not even going to allow people to try to use it to do diagnoses,” Shah insisted in the October 2023 interview. “I don’t think it’s safe, honestly.”

PhD Cheap by University of Brazil, Campinas
Posted by: cahyo_adi - 01-29-2025, 11:50 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (8)

Hello everyone,

I am looking for information regarding University of Brazil, Campinas (Unibraz). On their website, they claim to be accredited: Unibraz Accreditation Page. However, I would like to verify whether this university is officially recognized by the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) or not.

The reason for my inquiry is that their PhD programs are extremely affordable, as seen on this page: Unibraz PhD Programs. Given the low cost, I want to ensure that their accreditation is legitimate.
Does anyone have experience with this university or any official confirmation regarding its recognition?
Any insights or information would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance

University of Chicago Graham School Basic Program Year Two Spring
Posted by: Charles Fout - 01-29-2025, 09:10 PM - Forum: General "Big 3", B&M colleges, and other colleges - No Replies

Although, I am just at the halfway point of my Year 2 Winter class, I just enrolled in my year two Spring class.

This time we will read  Michel de Montaigne’s The Essays; Blaise Pascal’s Pensées, Friedrich Nietzsche’s On the Genealogy of Morals, and Sigmund Freud’s The Interpretation of Dreams. In the Tutorial section of the course, we will do  a close reading of three books of the Bible: Genesis, Job, and Matthew.

But wait: That's not all!

I also just signed up for

the FREE Dimensions of Diversity Information session. I hope this course opportunity is not irresistible but, as there is so much that I don't know , this one may be well turn into an additional investment.

Penn Foster is now open to Canadians?
Posted by: CollegeStudentAC - 01-29-2025, 06:41 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (3)

I've always wanted to do a Penn Foster degree (because I think they can be completed really fast) but eventually found out that I wasn't able to because the programs are US-only and that Penn Foster global isn't open to Canadians either and so I was informed of their partner school, ICS Canada. Unfortunately, ICS Canada didn't have any degree programs.

But that school has now closed and on the website, it says to go to Penn Foster:
https://www.icslearn.ca/

I left them a message on chat so I should be receiving an email back.

Ashworth College's Canadian partner school closed a long time ago. I haven't reached out to them

UMPI student loans not impacted in federal pause
Posted by: ashkir - 01-29-2025, 12:41 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (2)

Many people across the US are confused right now.

Dr. Rice has confirmed your Pell grants are okay.

Please don’t turn this post into a political war. This is just to pass on information to tell students their loans are covered.

I am writing to reassure all students that the announcement by the Office of Management and Budget of a pause in certain federal programs will not affect your Federal Financial Aid. The Department of Education has confirmed that funding for programs such as Pell Grants, Direct Loans, and work-study will continue as scheduled.

About TESU international students language proficiency
Posted by: tak916 - 01-28-2025, 10:13 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (6)

Hello, I’m a student from China and applied for TESU BACS. I submitted my TOEFL home score and the admission team could not receive my score which is weird. So I want to apply via the 9 credit hour-bearing course transcript, but the TESU website noted that the transcript should come from an accredited college/university, I have 80 credits from Sophia, will this waive the language requirement? Thanks.
