Posted by: Hackingat40 - 03-09-2025, 10:04 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (4)

Hey everyone! Has anyone received a recent BAS diploma? Umpi says all minors are listed on diploma up to 3 but parchment is saying no minors are listed on diploma’s but only on transcript’s. Curious which one is accurate as myself abd others on discord are curious

Question Sophia's Anatomy and Physiology I and II with or without Lab?
Posted by: Ares - 03-09-2025, 03:12 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (3)

The DF wiki shows Sophia's Anatomy and Physiology I and II transferring to TESU without the lab as "BIO-2110 Anatomy and Physiology I w/out Lab" and "BIO-2132 Anatomy and Physiology II w/out Lab".

But now TESU only shows "BIO-2110 Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab" and "BIO-2120 Anatomy and Physiology II with Lab" on their course list.

I searched their website and found "BIO-2100" listed on a different page but not on their course list.

Does anyone know if the lab is required or not for these Sophia courses at TESU?

  Shakespeare’s Henry V
Posted by: Charles Fout - 03-08-2025, 10:45 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - No Replies

Sometimes I take courses outside of my program. As Henry V is my favorite Shakespeare, I signed up for this one. I wish it made sense for me to travel to Chicago to participate in the symposium.

This course, like all of my Basic Program classes, is non-credit. Learning for the sake of learning. I am loving the experience.

"King Henry V is one of Shakespeare’s great English histories, the final play in his so-called “Henriad” or “Major Tetralogy,” composed and first produced in the 1590s. At the center of the play is the maneuvering of the young king on the grandest possible stage, as he builds support for an invasion of France, foils a treasonous plot, leads a military campaign that culminates in the shocking English triumph at the Battle of Agincourt, secures the inheritance of the French crown and woos his future queen, the French princess Katherine."

"This course will immediately precede the Basic Program’s one-day Symposium on Henry V but all are welcome to take the course."

Shocked TESU "Residency Waiver Fee" now "Edison Accelerate Fee" that saves you money!
Posted by: Ares - 03-08-2025, 03:03 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (23)

It looks like TESU rebranded their $3354 "Residency Waiver Fee" as an $3354 "Edison Accelerate Fee".

It now provides you with financial savings? WTF is this...

Quote:At Thomas Edison State University, we know that highly motivated students like you have already achieved great success in your educational journey. For those who bring a significant number of credits from prior college experiences, Edison Accelerate* provides a streamlined, cost-effective pathway to graduation.

For $3,354, Edison Accelerate allows students with substantial prior credits to reduce their Credit Hour Residency Requirement to just 6 required course credits (SOS-1100: Critical Information Literacy and Capstone). Instead of enrolling in additional credit hours, you pay this one-time fee, saving both time and money while leveraging your past academic achievements.

This program is designed for students who are ready to finish what they’ve started. By choosing Edison Accelerate, you’ll benefit from our expert team’s personalized evaluation of your prior credits.

Edison Accelerate provides you with more than just financial savings—it recognizes your hard work and determination. If you’re ready to take the next step toward achieving your academic goals, learn more about Edison Accelerate by contacting the Office of Admissions. Accelerate today!

*Beyond the Credit Hour Residency Requirement, Edison Accelerate does not waive any degree policies or requirements.

Are they serious?

  TESU financial

I’ve seen some threads about out of state  fee waivers for only taking two courses for a Bachelors degree from TESU. How does this work and how many credits can be transferred in . I’m interested in the Bachelors in liberal arts / Healthcare management or health and wellness. I currently have 69 credits and still working on more through study com and Sophia .

  Applying for Graduation
Posted by: Armadillo1 - 03-07-2025, 06:12 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (5)

I'm a little confused about when to apply for graduation. I only need the 10 courses for residency and am registered to start Mar 10th at the beginning of Spring II. I need 4 classes for the actual degree, and then 6 other random courses to complete the residency requirement. I' already have the classes approved and choose the easiest for me classes I can find. I'm hoping that I can complete all 10 courses in just 1 term. When do I apply for graduation?

Also when can I start applying for grad school?

Big 3 and other Bachelor degree options
Posted by: abart37 - 03-07-2025, 05:10 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (1)

IFirst , I’d like to thank the posters on degree forum . I was able to get a pierpont AAS BOG degree in August . I have 69 credits currently and I’m still working on Sophia and study.com . With that said , what is my fastest and most affordable option to complete a BA or BS in general studies or liberal arts (since I suppose both of those would be faster than having a major . I’m looking for something as affordable and timely as possible. I know about the big 3. Charter Oak and Excelsior seem expensive. I’m enrolled now at UoPeople in BSBA with many credits but have a background in practical nursing and after a few business classes and it’s not very interesting for me . I know with general studies or liberal arts I can minor in something health related. (Health management, etc). Has anyone taken a similar route ?

Adding :

Your Location: USA
Your Age: Early 40s
What kind of degree do you want?: Bachelor’s in anything health related including liberal arts or general studies with minor in health related subjects.
Current Regional Accredited Credits: 15
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: around 52 or more
Any certifications or military experience? Licensed practical nurse
Budget: $3500
Commitments: 20 hours per week of job obligations
Dedicated time to study: 20 hours per week
Timeline: Need a degree by the end of 2025, so 10 months from now.

My priorities are getting are passing the cpc , obtaining a bachelors degree and with my background in practical nursing getting a job with health insurance or similar .

I could also keep pursuing the BSBA at UoPeople since they won’t let me switch back to BS Health Science since I’m at over 45 credits. However, BSBA is not something I’m very interested in.

Lightbulb TESU New Major Suggestion BA/BAS in Computer Studies
Posted by: Ares - 03-07-2025, 04:08 PM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (5)

Would anyone be interested in a BA/BAS in Computer Studies? TESU already has an AAS in Applied Computer Studies.

BA/BAS in Computer Studies Degree Structure:

45 Credits in the GER.
45 Credits in any combination of Computer Science and CIS courses but one of each required. 15 UL credits and 39 of 45 credits have to be level 2xx or higher.
30 Credits in Electives.

Thoughts?

Degree Planning. Do I need 10 classes or 12
Posted by: 00u00u00 - 03-07-2025, 12:32 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (8)

I am starting Spring 2 for BAS-MIS at the recommendation of this forum from BLS and I thought I would’ve maxed out my transfers but I clearly didn’t. There are a few classes which I thought I covered with Sophia (Biology and Comms) but it looks like I’ll need English 121 and a few other GECs. Any recommendations for the easiest classes to fulfill my requirements?

Additionally, is it worth it to transfer in any additional classes vs taking them at UMPI like Spanish?

  General Chemistry I
Posted by: MoeSizzle323 - 03-07-2025, 02:43 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (1)

How hard was General Chemistry at TESU? It is my last class for my BS and it is wrecking me. Just started and these Alex questions and assignments are taking me hours , are the exams just as hard? 60 percen of the grade is 3 exams. Will it get easier or is it all math? I did all the labs separately and they werent nearly as hard. What worked for you?
