Posted by: Charles Fout - 02-23-2025, 03:49 PM - Forum: Military Discussion - Replies (2)

Wonderful to see fellow American Military University Alumni do well.

"Caine was born on 10 August 1968,[1] at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, New York.[2] He is the first child of Steven Allen Caine and Catherine Johnston Caine.[3][a] Steven was a fighter pilot.[5] He graduated from Hahn American High School in Hahn, Rhineland-PalatinateGermany.[6] In 1990, Caine graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a degree in economics.[7] He later graduated from American Military University with a master's degree in air warfare.[7]"

  Bachelors Degree Help..
Posted by: PMartinez - 02-23-2025, 12:14 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (7)

Hello everyone and thank you in advance for any help. Many years ago, with the help of this forum, I was able to get an Associates in Business from Excelsiors, which I needed in order to join the Police Department. In order to achieve the next promotion on my job I need a Bachelors Degree. I don't need this done until 2026 but I am more of the cram and do it all at once kind of person. For the most part, I don't have much preference to what degree or with who, with easiest and cheapest being the preferrable options. based on what Ive read so far, I see many point towards UMPI BABA M&L, I was also looking at a possible Criminal Justice degree with UMPI. Ive looked at degree plans but its a little overwhelming at first.

Your Location: New York, United States.

What kind of degree do you want?:  Not much preference

Would I be able to complete my Bs in information technology at Purdue Global in 2term
Posted by: purduestudent - 02-23-2025, 10:32 AM - Forum: General "Big 3", B&M colleges, and other colleges - Replies (4)

Hi. Just got done trading emails with my Purdue global academic advisor and he gave me the rundown on the remaining credits I have left in my IT degree there. I have 84 credits left to complete and I want to finish as quickly and money conversing as possible. Would it be feasible for me to finish 40 credits in 1 term and 44 credits the second term? I also work two part time jobs a week. Open to hearing some of you guy's experience. Thanks.

Sofia University in Bulgaria offers an online Master’s Degree in Political Pathologies of the Global World at an affordable price of €1,200 for the two-semester program.

This makes it one of the most cost-effective master’s programs in political science.

Quickest doctorate program with no dissertation
Posted by: fpotatoes - 02-22-2025, 10:22 PM - Forum: Doctorate Degree Discussion - Replies (17)

Just need one for salary bump. Currently hold MA Education degree. EdD preferred but other degrees would work too. Rockhurst has 2 year degree but would want to see if any of the state schools for just a little better face value in terms of names. 2 year is ideal. Capstone project would be better than dissertation. Anywhere along the line of psychology, social work, occupational therapy probably work as well.
Any recs? Somewhere not horribly expensive though (not more than 20k a year)

POS 493 Political Science Capstone questions
Posted by: Patchouli_Skoal - 02-22-2025, 03:59 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (2)

Hi All. I only have a couple of classes to complete in Spring 2 to finish my BA in History/Political Science and I'm wondering about the POS 493 Political Science Capstone. I read an older comment on the class review thread that it's just a single 1500-2000 word paper, which seems like a normal final.  Is that still true? Do I get to pick the topic and find my own sources?  Also, does anyone know which professor grades it, or is there more than one?

Not sure why I'm stressing this since I've done well in all the other classes so far.  Maybe just the unknown. Thanks for any insight you all can offer.

Oh, and if anybody has any recent insight into POS370 Native American History I'd appreciate that too. It's one of the classes I have remaining and I'm a little worried about it also.

Smile Psychology Bachelor’s I can complete in 10 months from scratch? + How can I help out?
Posted by: wiggle932 - 02-21-2025, 11:23 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (4)

Been doing a lot of research on this forum, Reddit, and the Wiki to find the program that’s right for me (Perplexity Spaces and making a You.com agent were much easier for finding relevant answers on this site than the search function [Image: biggrin.png] ). It looks like UMPI is going to be the right choice for me, but I want to confirm with the folks here first.

I’m looking to become a school psychologist and want to apply to brick-and-mortar graduate programs next January. I researched my target programs and they generally want to see a GPA for the final 60 credit hours, so if I’m not mistaken, I’ll have to do half of my credits (20 courses) at the bachelor’s program I choose.

Your Location: USA
Your Age: Early 20s
What kind of degree do you want?: Bachelor’s in Psychology
Current Regional Accredited Credits: None
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: None. I know that Sophia and Study.com are going to be important for getting ACE credits.
Any certifications or military experience? No
Budget: $12,000
Commitments: 30-40 hours per week of job obligations
Dedicated time to study: 25 hours per week
Timeline: Need a degree by the end of 2025, so 10 months from now.
Other info: I don’t do well on exams unless they’re open-book. I prefer to write, and if I’m not mistaken, SNHU and UMPI are the only universities where I can complete a degree without exams.

My priorities are getting a high GPA to be competitive for grad school, and earning the degree by the end of 2025 so I can apply by the grad school deadlines in January.

My questions:

  1. Grad schools generally want transcripts from all universities attended - how often have y’all heard of grad schools asking for the ACE credit transcripts from places like Sophia and Study.com? Do the grades in those courses show up on the university transcript, or do they just show as transfer credit? Asking because I plan to not focus much on my general education ACE credit courses and just earn minimum passing grades.
  2. Which universities are best for my situation? UMPI and SNHU seem like the only viable choices since a degree can be earned without exams, but I know that SNHU allows only up to 3 courses per 2-month/8-week term, so I can’t complete 20 courses in 10 months.
  3. Anything else I should be aware of? Feel free to share links to other threads that would be useful for my situation.
  4. I’m in serious awe at the involvement of some of the users here like @bjcheung77, @rachel83az, and @LevelUP, volunteering to help people out like me. Curious about what motivates y’all to voluntarily spend so much time here, especially when you have other obligations? How can I give back as someone who is new to this and can’t offer much advice? Perhaps I could provide my degree plan on the wiki once I’ve finished the degree?

Study.com is switching to non-proctored and open-book exams
Posted by: jg_nuy - 02-21-2025, 06:53 PM - Forum: Saylor.org, Straighterline, Study.com, Sophia.Org, Coursera Discussion - Replies (72)

My son received a notification that Study.com is switching over to non-proctored, open-book final exams for their College Saver plan beginning at the end of February. Exams will no longer be recorded. They will be switching over to keystroke pattern verification and ID verification.

This was added to their FAQs today: https://support.study.com/support/soluti...exams-faqs

Hi!  I just got laid off from my Fed Govt job here in Virginia.  I'm thinking of pursuing another degree (WGU-MSCSIA is complete).  Anything other than WGU I can knock out in 6 months?  I'm open to MBA, MBA IT Management, MAOL and possibly others.  I'm going to apply to grants at WGU but high prior income will be a factor.  Thanks

PS - I'll be knocking out the PMP certification by April 1st.
