Posted by: bjcheung77 - 08-26-2024, 09:56 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (8)

UMPI Fall Enrollment deadline is today (for those who are continuing in the Fall)
Please make sure to max your transfer, delay enrollment if needed.

I got an email from them, congrats to the people who are graduating, and for those who are needing to take an extra session, you have to get this completed asap otherwise you'll be booted to the next session.

  DSST testing advice (for beginner)
Posted by: audpants - 08-25-2024, 07:50 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (2)

Hi ya'll!

I am so sorry for the BASIC questions I am about to ask, but I am brand new at this and have been poking around the forum and just can't seem to find the general information I'm looking for.

My daughter is 16 and interested in starting credits toward her Bachelors degree. We are a Navy family and interested in her taking DSST exams. She does not have a high school diploma or GED yet.

From my previous research, I gathered that Excelsior, Thomas Edison or Charter Oaks are the best colleges for this.

(She is interested in Fine Arts- which I'm not even sure is an option at any of these place.?)

However, the main question that I can't seem to get to the bottom of is:

Can we just schedule and start DSST or CLEP testing and later "transfer" them into one of these schoolsl? OR does one have to first be admitted to the school, and then begin the testing and it automatically gets sent there???‍♀️ I'm so sorry, I just don't understand how this works. Like if there is a third party involved, or how to get started.

I would love any advice that anyone could share with us!

Thank you!

  AAS other than Pierpont ?
Posted by: ForSchoolsStuffffffffff - 08-25-2024, 07:08 AM - Forum: Associates Degrees Discussion - Replies (11)

Hello,
I would like to know if there is any AAS where you can transfer all 60 credits (or satisfy all requirements with just transfer credits) other than Pierpont ?
I haven't graduated HS yet but I have credits from UoPeople (2 courses), Sophia (around 13 courses now) and Coursera (some 50 to 60ish credits).
The pierpont one requires being out of high school for atleast a year, and I really need an AAS.
Thank you

  Udacity Data Analyst Nanodegree
Posted by: pluggingalong - 08-24-2024, 09:38 PM - Forum: WGU - Western Governors University Discussion - Replies (5)

In the WGU BSDA program, the Udacity Data Analyst Nanodegree (UDAN) is part of the WGU curriculum. There are 6 projects in the UDAN.  Do all UDAN 6 projects make up 1 WGU class, or multiple WGU classes?  Or are only some of the 6 UDAN projects done within the WGU curriculum? I'm getting ready to start D496 which uses material from the UDAN. It would be great if the UDAN let me finish off several WGU classes in one shot (or 6 little shots).

Oh, I see in the D496 material it uses 2 of the 6 projects, so that seems to be the answer.

  BLS Minor in Management Plan
Posted by: mohelena02 - 08-24-2024, 09:36 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (5)

Hi Everyone,

I have been helping my sister in law with her degree journey.

She completed a ton of Sophia classes, plus submitted her credits from her stints at two different colleges to UMPI for evaluation. Attached is what she got back. She is asking me what she can still do at Sophia before starting, I am sharing here for you all to help me in case I am missing/not seeing something. From the plan she can still take on Sophia:

To cover the basics:
-Human Biology (but no need to take Lab)
-US History I
-Spanish I or French I
-US Government
-Business Law

Management Minor:
All the classes I see on there are Study.com only

For the electives, I am confused if this means she should take more electives on Sophia or not? Should she take the two UL electives Sophia has to offer?

-Business Ethics

-Microbiology

Thank you so much!!
