hello I was denied admission to umpi YourPace program . im not exactly sure but  it seems that its because my most previously attended schools transcript has 4 classes with W and one possible F. they are recommending I take 2 classes as a non degree student. however I was wondering if taking ASU 25$ class could pssibly satisfy this

Binghamton University System Science PhD for $15k
Posted by: NotJoeBiden - 09-16-2024, 03:59 PM - Forum: Doctorate Degree Discussion - Replies (3)

Binghamton University (SUNY) has an online PhD in System Science.

It requires 30 credits, but only 24 of these need to be from the university. At a tuition of $620.45 per credit hour (including fees) for out of state students, this totals just below $15k for the entire degree. In state students get an even better deal at $471/credit hour plus some fees.

They have many different research areas such as computer modeling, health systems, information systems, machine leaning, statistics, sustainability, and even transdisciplinary research which allows for many different areas if research.

Binghampton is a top school in the US (US News at 73 overall, 34 for public schools)

Might be a good option not just for people STEM, but other computational “soft” sciences like social science, economics, etc.

As a student in their DBA program, I was given the opportunity by Greate Learning to present a free course in project management.
Please, write me PM and I will send you the link.
There is only one free place for one person. So ask me for a link to the program if only you are really interested in studying at Greate Learning.

Med school - anyone interested? Well...

Yeah, I am thinking of it... for the last few years now actually... Here's an interesting read, the oldest Med School graduate (not in the US, but elsewhere).  It's weird why he went to the PI to get a medical degree, I guess it's like some people going to the Caribbean for theirs...

Sophia has now added ID Verification to its final milestones:

Jumio Verification
You may be prompted to provide an ID for verification through Jumio. Jumio verification is used to confirm a student's identity by verifying their government-issued ID and comparing it to a subsequent selfie.

  TESU BA PSY
Posted by: xBless - 09-16-2024, 11:44 AM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (10)

Hi, Heart

Your Location: FL
Your Age: 28
What kind of degree do you want?: PhD Psychology
Current Regional Accredited Credits: 60? (Associate's in General Studies acquired)
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: 0
Any certifications or military experience?: 0
Budget: Willing to go in debt.
Commitments: I have a lady and family to consider, but I've given them so much positive equity in relational love that they can take a hit.
Dedicated time to study: 60hr/week is probably my burnout.
Timeline: Dec 1. is PhD early app deadline. This year or next year. (If MA needed for app improvement) Maybe I slide in with a strong personal statement.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: Pell, I have no income currently.

I am interested in starting with a BA in PSY from TESU. I intend to pay for Instacert. I've reviewed both the sample plan and JSD's. Perhaps I'm incorrect about Study/Sophia, but I'd imagine DSST/TECEP/CIS would be quicker? Self-study followed by an exam. Is that true?

The attached file is basically copy&paste of the Sample Plan for the AOS section. I'm not familiar with how my degree would transfer with respect to gen ed requirements. It also has my completed courses from my degree. 60CR (-12, transfer?) +45 (AOS) = 93. Do any credits need to be in General Ed? Can I just fill the remaining 27CR with relevant UL/LL related courses?

Anyways. TYSM you guys for this forum and its wealth of information. I've learned so much from you all. Shout-out to you, bjcheung. I've got a lot of energy to work. I'm fully recovered after smacking cancer around a lil bit. I want a PhD from an APA school. I don't want a Psy or Ed degree. I will spend the extra year paying the entrance fee for the PhD if need be. My GPA is 3.1. I've got myself together now, though. Worked through all that childhood trauma, namsayin'? I could likely get a higher GPA is what I'm saying. I don't know what the DGS's value most, though. A MA, relevant work experience, or a 4.0 AOS GPA. They won't respond. I'll just keep knocking at the door. All words appreciated.

Quantic - MS in Software Engineering for $12k
Posted by: nomaduser - 09-16-2024, 05:46 AM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (1)

https://quantic.edu/ms-software-engineering/

Quantic's software engineering program is available now for $12k. Its duration is only 1 year.

What do you guys think?

I think Georgia Tech's OMSCS is still better than this one in terms of price and reputation.

  Master's Degree Options
Posted by: dm.hans32 - 09-15-2024, 05:00 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (8)

Hello again all, and thanks to everyone who gave me advice earlier this year! I'm on track to complete my BLS-CJ, History, Poli Sci degree from UMPI this session. So here I am, back for round two- looking for a master's degree.

I've completed 55 Sophia/Coursera credits since January and 21 UMPI credits (3 classes left to complete this term). I figured I should keep the momentum going and keep using my GI Bill.

Your Location: North Dakota, USA
Your Age: 33
What kind of degree do you want?: Master's Degree OR an accelerated dual Bachelor/Master. I'd like to avoid hardcore business topics (I haven't found them particularly interesting). I was thinking Criminal Justice (not the most transferable degree outside my current career) or a STEM field (beneficial inside/outside my current career)

I have considered Walden's CBE Tempo Master's in Criminal Justice (not the biggest fan of for-profit schools). I have also considered WGU, possibly the BSIT-MSIT accelerated degree to gain some knowledge and skill that is outside my wheelhouse.

Current Regional Accredited Credits:

A mess of Gen Eds and CJ courses from several schools, equal to 60 or so credits (none that would be transferable to a Masters)

However, from UMPI I have:
Vietnam Wars
Arab-Israel Conflicts
History of Infectious Disease
Intl Relations & Modern Conflicts (in progress)
CJ Ethics
Research Methods
Criminology
Police & Policing
Modern Political Thought (in progress)
Constitutional Law (will be starting that this week hopefully)

Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits:

Sophia:
Intro to Ethics
Art History 1
Project Manage
College Algebra
Intro to IT
Visual Comms
Business Comms
Environ Sci
Microbiology
Workplace Writing 2
U.S. History I
U.S. History II
Intro to Soc
Spanish 1
Human Biology
Human Biology Lab

Coursera
Google PM Professional Cert

Any certifications or military experience?
Army 68W Healthcare Specialist
ND Peace Officer License
ND POST Board Instructor
NREMT EMT-Basic

Budget: Flexible. I have approximately 15 months of Post-9/11 GI Bill (60%) left.

Commitments: I work full-time in Law Enforcement, subject to call-outs and long days. However, I've been very successful in managing my time.

Dedicated time to study: I can study a few hours per day when I work. I can do several hours on days off.

Timeline: Finishing the courses required for the degree as quickly as possible. Ideally within the next year or so, however I can slow it up to about 15 months.

Tuition assistance/reimbursement: GI Bill

Thanks again!

Question Am I allowed to choose any minor(s) for the BLS?

Can I only choose what is officially offered or can I do something like BLS with minors in English and History?

  Study.com History Courses
Posted by: lawqueen04 - 09-15-2024, 10:05 AM - Forum: Saylor.org, Straighterline, Study.com, Sophia.Org, Coursera Discussion - Replies (4)

Hello!                                                                                                           I am working on completing requirements for a Bachelor of Arts History/Political Science with Political Science concentration from UMPI. I was just wondering if anyone could confirm that study.com course name HIS 108 History of Vietnam War is granted credit towards the major. And because there are so many other history courses, would any other study.com History course count towards the major and not just elective credit? (I see Poli Sci concentration requires 9 credits of history which I was planning to complete US History I, US History II at Sophia and looking for the third History course I could complete)

I also have read that UMPI doesn't accept Saylor courses? I was thinking of completing Comparative Politics if they do, possibly.....

Thank you!!!  Smile
